How to create 3d characters? What software should I choose?

Hello everyone!

I’ve been learning 3Develop for a while now and I’m having a bit of a problem. I’m working on a 3D game and I already know I won’t be able to draw 3D characters in Piskel. I started googling the topic and found the programs on Reallusion dot com.

Character Creator costs $99, and iClone 8 costs $499. Can these programs create beautiful, advanced 3D characters for my GDevelop game?

Or maybe ere there other 3D character creation programs for the GDevelop environment?

Blender is free…I don’t do 3d games but I have mucked about with blender before and it seems great

Artists make the characters from scratch and do not use character editors. Getting decent with Blender will take a very long time.

The following two alternatives can get you results much faster, but you will still have to create the actual art yourself. Both are $0.

For hard surface modeling: MagicaVoxel (with Marching Cubes)

For soft-surface: SculptGL[grid]

meshy.ai

This is a referral link so if you try it, I get a free month too. Meshy.ai is awesome. For someone like me, a father with a full work schedule, it is an incredible time saver and it allows me to jump right in to 3D asset creation without having to learn a complicated program like Blender.

Good luck!

Thanks for answers. Today I got back to creating my first game and the question is: for 3D indie horror on PC better SculptGL or MagicaVoxel, Meshy AI or maybe another one?

Generally I would like to get involved with games and I like strategy games (with wars and economy) and horrors. So my first game should be horror for PC. I am learning Blender at the same time to make bigger games in the future.
