How to make an extendable tounge

so im trying to make this game where there is this frog and his tounge has to shoot out of of and stop at the place the fly was previously when he shot his tounge out and i also want his tounge to like stretch out i think it needs 2 sprites one for the tip of the tounge and the other for whats behind the tounge like the sprites the connects the tip of the tounge to the frog but i dont know how to do that im a newbie so could anyone help me out please?
