Image Pixels Look Jagged

I created my pixel art and it looks good in Piskel in my first screenshot but when I drag it onto the screen all the edges look jagged. It’s 190 x 190 and I tried smoothing the edges and turning that off and it doesn’t make a difference it still looks bad. I’m not quite sure what I’m doing wrong here. Can anyone help?

I had the same problem in another game I made and it looks horrible and i can’t seem to figure out what the problem is :frowning:

This is when I run the game:

This is in Piskel

Thank you!

Looks like you’re maximizing the window, instead of fullscreening it. That’ll mean it has to account for both your start menu and your title bar, which will “squish” the game.

Does it still look off if you hit F11 after starting the preview?

I can confirm this issue,

if you edit your image with piskel, piskel apply automatically some sort of sharpening/pixelize effect that destroy the smooth lines/edges of your image.
This doesn’t happen as long you don’t edit and click save.
It has been always like this as far as i remember.

Edit your sprite in gimp.

Just for context, your post and issue appears to be unrelated to the OPs post.

What you’re describing is because “smooth lines” on pixel art usually involves some pixels with alpha levels (transparency). Piskel does not support any alpha channels (just fully transparent (clear) or fully opaque (color)), so all of those partially transparent pixels that lead to your smooth lines becomes solid black/white/whatever color they were.

The OPs post has an image in their preview that is squished in dimensions, which leads to subpixel rendering, which is unrelated to piskel entirely.
