i feel like i cant realy learn any new things from youtube or from just making games alone. but i know there are things that i dont understand 100%. to fill all the knowledge gaps i thought i should just read the documentation. simple. what i wanted to ask is, if there is a right way to read the documentation without leaving out certain things. i dont realy expect that there is a right way to read the documentation but just in case i made this
Hey! Welcome to the forum!
I personally don’t think there is a right or wrong way to read the docs.
(By the way, I did release a free template recently that you might like, it is geared for beginners on GDevelop!)
its more about in what way should i navigate the documentation with beeing sure to cover everything there is. but your probably right that there isnt realy a right way. i think i manage to just navigate trough it somehow
Hi JayB, I would just think of the documentation as a reference. It’s not really a how -to guide. When there’s something specific you want to know about, then you can look it up in the documentation or even here in the forum.
You can make some simple games without knowing everything and then slowly expand your knowledge and skills.
I agree with Bubble.just start with something.
It’s one of the few engines that lets you create something without having to be the new Oppenheimer.
the thing is that i dont know what these specific things are. i now make games with gdevelop for over 2 years and im feeling like i missed something. its realy about to see what even is there that i could have missed. i dont know where this should be if not in the documentation
Ah. Well, I guess one way to find out what you’re missing is make an object and then open the add behavior tab and see how many of them you’ve used. If you see things you’ve never used then just try them out. Also, look in conditions and actions to find anything interesting to you. Same things for extensions, although there are a lot of them.
yeah smth like that is proly what i need to do now that i think about it
Hello @JayB_Games!
Welcome on this forum and good use of GDevelop.
Perhaps our friend JayB wanted also how increase his knowledge of the tool GDevelop and not only improve his abilities to create games with GDevelop.
It’s true a documentation on usage of the editors (2D and now 3D) is lacking nowadays.
What are your thinkings about that?
A+
