New project should not be forced to be published on gd games

I created new project (and same goes for every new project i make)
And when i try to generate link so i can share it
I have no choice but to publish it on gd games

I should see this toggle switch

To either publish it on gd games or generate new dev link

This toggle switch will only show after i at least once publish it to gd games

It should not force me to publish it there i should have choice what i actually want to do

I already made feature request for that but i cannot find it
I believe i was told it was fixed
But it is not

Seems you have no idea what this feature request is about

GAME linki to your game on gd games
Toggle switch is set to the right

DEV link to your game
Toggle switch is set to the left (i call it dev link cause when you open it You see DEVELOPMENT BUILD in top left corner
This link is meant for testing like share it with others if you want to test something)

We should have that choice right from the start
And not after we at least once publish to gd games

Imagine here
You want to send private message to other user with which you never had any conversation
BUT you don’t have option to send private message
You only can send @NICKANME in any topic
And only after that you will have choice either to @ someone or to send that user private message

Of course you can delete your message which you sent via @NICKNAME
But tell me should you?
Should you be forced to make public message at least once to see option
Or you should have option between sending public message or private message right from the start?

There used to be a very clear separation between publishing a game and creating a dev link to the current build for testing. Now it’s really confusing and anytime I want to do a dev build only, I’m terrified I’m publishing it instead.

To make matters worse, in the dashboard under Edit details, the toggle is not available to an unpublished game.

Maybe it needs to be published to allow us to generate dev link?
I mean we don’t know how that stuff works after they introduced dashboard changes

Now that i think about it
Maybe simple solution would be to have in this window

3 options like or one additional toggle switch

Publish game on

1 - Gd games (and here another toggle switch ON - and publish it on my gd games page OFF - keep game hidden)

2 - And generate new link (dev link)
Which would not have that 2nd toggle switch

At this point it just makes no sense for us to 1st need to publish it to generate dev link

Dev link is actually test link
We can argue here but there is not even anything to win
99% of users will want in most cases to get test link and not publish anything anywhere
Is it visible or not

Look
This is actually epic
I open

I see right from the start

It remembers my choice but like i said i see it right from the start
I can save it to my cloud and then delete it from my profile but should i?
NAH i should have that choice right into my face right from the very first time i even open this or any project

And to any1 still confused about this feature request
Well that is what its about

I don’t do test builds very often. I did one just now and yeah it automatically publishes it to gd.games but by default is hidden. I started to think there were no build links any more. There are, but quite a process to get there.

In the dashboard scroll to the bottom to Exports

Then this screen, publish to gd.games was on by default. The pic here is after I turned it off and the build link is on the right. No wonder newer users don’t know about dev/build links.

Yeah but like think
You want to show me something in your game cause its not working
Well not me to any1 actually just show something like “look this is what is happening”
Would you want to publish on gd games or generate new link (dev link)?

I am showing off to other users 99% of times that something is working by providing dev links to my test game
Just so no one can tell me something i made is not working
So i cut any argument right there
So if they replicate my events and it does not work for them then i don’t need to tell them they did something wrong
The fact it works in my project and not in theirs tells them that

So i am very biased on having choice right from the start and it remembering the choice

But reading example i gave at beginning of this message
Tell me it should not be
1 - choice from the start
2 - remember the choice

Now that i look at your message i think there should be
3 - add here

This

And we just killed 3 birds with 1 stone
