I just started to use external layouts. My project doesn’t work properly if an external layout has focus, meaning the tab is selected. If an external layout tab is select, it adds it to the scene when the preview starts. I tried setting my only scene to “set as start scene” and it’s the same.
Why would an external layout be added to the scene at the start of the preview? Is this a bug or feature? If a feature then is there a way to disable this behavior?
I disabled all of the events, Room 5 is not on the start scene and it only appears if the tab is selected and only when the preview starts. If I change or restat the scene, it doesn’t reapear.
I guess a work around for me is to delete the layout when it starts. I’m already using a **placed" boolean. So, it’s easy enough to delete the ones with placed set to false. I’d rather not have to use a workaround.
Hello, Keith!
I’m not sure, but I think “set as start scene” it only serves to start the game in that scene when the whole game is running (an exported game). The preview works for the scene/external layout that is opened or you can modify the preview using “Start all previews from scene…”:
This will prevent opening your external layout for you.
Hi, Rasterisko. I don’t see that option. I’m using the Windows version 5.1.160
It’s not normally an issue but I was trying to test various sizes of a sprite and needed to see it in action but having it already on the screen when the project started, threw everything off. I didn’t want to have to keep switching tabs each time. My workaround of deleting the layout works but it’s just a bandage.

Oh I’m sorry. My print screen is showing after I chose the scene. You need to choose this option first:
