Before I subscribe, can anyone tell me, can you load existing projects into the app from say your android phone, do you have to subscribe to be able to do it as when I click on files, open, a box pops up saying choose where to load your project from but then it just has a cancel button and I can go no further?

For the moment the mobile app allow to load and save projects only in GDevelop cloud (linked to your GDevelop account).
The local load /save on the mobile app are planned for later.
Of course you can start a project on desktop, save it in to the cloud, open it from your phone/tablet, then continue to save it in the cloud.
If you want to make your project local again, you have to “save as” then choose a folder on your computer to save it in locally.
