Space Caves Of Ceres

shooting walker

edit - i’ve exported this as a new project. Things added -
Firebase leaderboard
Intro scene
Update to falling rocks
Larger cave system
have a play - post a score and let me know what irritates you …and why you rage quite etc - need feedback!

You can now teleport back to your ship if you’ve come out of the ship and strayed to far - PRESS T - b4 i had it so that the ship auto piloted back to you - but it tended to get lost due to the object culling - and my son suggested teleport!
land then use left or right to come out of the ship and use cursor to fire when out of it.

Thanks Kotiks!
Updates - the miners all now have names
cosmetic cave update
Object culling improvements …turns out i had it happening every frame!! - and not when you’ve travelled 160 pixels as I intended, and i’m surprised it was functioning at all on my phone. I sometimes half do things and get distracted and that was the case here!
Many of the issues i get are due to object culling and referring to objects that no longer exist! What i have done successfully is that previously in my games such as spindly the objects that move which move about from cell to cell would disappear if they strayed to far from the cell that they were assigned to during world building. In this game what i’ve done is use a variable ‘stillactive’ and the is on screen behaviour so that if they’re on screen they don’t get deleted by object culling. What i need to work out really is assigning the objects that move to a new cell and removing them from the old one - need to start using the array tools extension i think!
I’m turning this into more of a metroidvania - destroying the eye alien now unlocks a new area and ill do the same for the other creatures and then i’m going to add landing areas that act like the benches in hollow knight!
if you’ve read as far as this then many thanks - have a great weekend!

You don’t want to publish the game on gaming platforms such as CrazyGames, Playgama Games, or Yandex Games?
On Yandex (I only have experience with it), you could earn revenue from in-game advertising. I have an example of how to publish a game on one of these three platforms. https://forum.gdevelop.io/t/publish-game-in-playgama-crazygames-yandex-games-and-more-with-one-extension/75617?u=kotiks
Although Yandex has a larger Russian-speaking audience, they still play both English and Russian-language games.

Thanks kotiks …i have looked at the thread. I’m always a little wary of links to things that i’m unfamiliar with - but will look into yandex. I think though, if i was submitting to the other sites that i’d want to do it individually and look at the cosmetic side of things, and make sure things looked ok. Currently my itch page could do with a makeover …so i’ll probably look to sort that out first.

Hello Dave!

A wonderful game that reminded me a little of Choplifter, a game played in the early 80s on microcomputers (by Broderbund).

Ah, if I had your graphic talents!

A+

Cheers @Amigo54! Your sprite work is pretty good too! I just fancied making something a bit like defender…but it’s getting more and more complicated!

Yandex in Russia is the same as Google in America. It is the most important and largest company in Russia. Yandex created an OS for phones called Yandex.kit(Яндекс.Кит), but it was abandoned (perhaps because it was a long time ago and Yandex was not a large company. But they did create an operating system for TVs.
Yandex created weather (with many features, including pollen), Yandex games, Yandex (search engine), Alice (neural network), Yandex Market, Yandex Taxi, Yandex Music, Yandex Mail, Yandex Browser, Yandex Translator (even translating text on photos), and so on. Yandex has created more than 110 services!

I almost forgot that Phaser is an official Yandex partner!

By the way, your game works better after the update!
And before the update, the game barely worked and the laptop froze.

By the way, I kept forgetting to say it. I really liked the fact that there’s a lot of truth in this game. Scientists believe that asteroids contain a lot of iron and other useful substances. Additionally, Ceres is one of the largest asteroids. The only thing that’s implausible in this game is the presence of aliens. While they may exist, they have yet to be seen.

But I still have to crawl to the boss. Crawl because I barely got 280.

Thanks for playing again- yeah - it’s all the rage mining asteroids …I just wanted to make a space shooter and so there has to be aliens. They would have left us alone though if we had just let them have the mineral deposits …or so the game lore goes.
Im going to optimise it better tomorrow and look at weapon upgrades etc!

And if the game is about Jupiter, I will tell you about it. Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar system, with a weight similar to that of all the other planets in the solar system. Jupiter is a gas giant that experiences frequent hurricanes.

But when I submit the result, the game freezes and doesn’t unfreeze. I had 1160 points… But submitting the points doesn’t work correctly.

That’s a very good score! - i might see what i can do about that …i’ve possibly created a bug - i think i know what it might be. Im going to try and login now on firebase and create a score - as i suspect that you defeated a boss…and not acknowledging this, it would be a great injustice!
there - done that …hope that worked ill see if i can sort the submit score out!
You’re right about jupiter - it’s almost a brown drawf

No boss was not defeated… But somehow scored 1160.
