What platform do you use?

Hey, just wondering! What platform do you use for GDevelop? I myself use Mac but it seems like a lot of people use Windows. I’m just wondering so if you could answer the poll it would be greatly appreciated!

  • Mac
  • Windows
  • Browser Editor
  • Mobile
  • Other?

Edit: Sorry that I forgot Linux!

Windoows! But then again I’m from Europe and Mac isn’t really an option here due to apple products being so expensive compared to normal desktop pc’s…

Linux does not even merit its own listing, is just included as Other? Do that few devs here use Linux?

I would say to add a vote for Linux, as it is what I use, but I have not yet started developing a game. Before I could, I discovered the Gdevelop Flatpak needs to be updated because it is causing an issue. I started a new general category topic to explain and report this, just waiting to find out if that leads to it being fixed so I can start learning how to make a game with Gdevelop.

I know a lot of people here use Linux, even if I don’t myself.

Sorry! I don’t know how I completely forgot Linux while making this post :skull:
It seems I can’t edit the poll, so I guess we are just stuck with “other” for now.

No biggie. Yeah, I noticed that the edit option disappears fast in this forum. I thought it was just because I am new here, but apparently not.

@Yhac10, thanks for mentioning that. It reminded me of something I forgot, so I checked through my long list of bookmarked discussions from this forum and I found I had one all about Gdevelop developers who use Linux. That may help with fixing the Flatpak problem.

Thankfully, I can still edit my post. Higher trust levels get access to editing posts longer. According to my knowledge:
Level 0: Access to edit posts for 5-10 minutes after they posted them.
Level 1: Access to edit posts for about an hour after they posted them.
Level 2: Access to edit posts for about 30 days after they posted them.
Level 3: Access to edit posts for about 30 days after they posted them.
Level 4: No limit.

Annoyingly though, polls can only be edited for the first 5 minutes after you post them, so I can’t edit my poll.

What an interesting incentive to earn promotions.

Yep. I try not to yap too much about it as it hasn’t personally affected me yet, and I of course do not want to upset the “people in power” if you know what I mean

Funnily enough you can also “level down” in discourse as I have for not posting or interacting for a certain amount of time.

Same happened with me. Dunno why

Yeah I was a “regular” but I became busy in life and didn’t post on here as often then I noticed I got downgraded to “member” again. Which isn’t a problem of course, but thought it was interesting.

Just me yapping here, but it seems like everyone just goes:
“Idk why this is happening with my trust level” instead of looking at the resources GDevelop provides
Oh well, guess I can copy paste everything from the discourse site

To answer your question:
To get to trust level 3, in the last 100 days…

  • Must have visited at least 50% of days

  • Must have replied to at least 10 different non-PM topics

  • Of topics created in the last 100 days, must have viewed 25%(capped at 500)

  • Of posts created in the last 100 days, must have read 25% (capped at 20k)

  • Must have received 20 likes, and given 30 likes.*

  • Must not have received more than 5 spam or offensive flags (with unique posts and unique users for each, confirmed by a moderator)

  • Must not have been suspended or silenced in the last 6 months

  • These likes must be across a minimum number of different users (1/5 the number), across a minimum number of different days (1/4 the number). Likes cannot be from PMs.

All of the above criteria must be true to achieve trust level 3. Furthermore, unlike other trust levels, you can lose trust level 3 status. If you dip below these requirements in the last 100 days, you will be demoted back to Member. However, in order to avoid constant promotion/demotion situations, there is a 2-week grace period immediately after gaining Trust Level 3 during which you will not be demoted.

This is actually super ironic, but today (1 day after I made that post) I hit trust level 3!
