ES, you weren’t here for the discussion a while back but wordle got sold by its creator to NYT. And I saved a version of the original to my computer. And I’ve been keeping track of the original answers and documented here already that NYT have excluded some of the original words. These were ‘agora’ and ‘pupal’. Agora was some ancient Greek word and pupal related to the larval stage of insects.
I was outraged that such obscure words were ever included in the original but fortunately the NYT did delete them. More recently they also deleted ‘lynch’ which is understandable and also ‘harry’. Harry is a word I guess but more commonly used in the form ‘harried’. But not much used though.
So anyway, after all my words here, which poor (old and forgetful) MrMen has had to re-live again by reading this, my point is that I think we can assume that all answers will be reasonably common words. I wish though that they’d get a new dictionary. Just today in 290 my friend got these ‘words’ accepted: lumas and attap
