I have noticed that when creating certain objects, panel sprite button for example, we will be asked to be connected to the internet. This is ofc understandable when we need to use graphics from the asset store, which i never do. But pressing the button Skip and create from scratch insists on telling us we need to be online to create the object.
This is a bit tame for a feature request maybe, but i cannot call it a bug with a clear conscience.
Even if an extension providing an object is already downloaded, trying to create an object provided by said events-based extension will make GDevelop prompt for an internet connection.
As a sidenote, GDevelop generally requires an internet connection to operate its full feature set on all versions, and will not be operating correctly on the mobile and web version without a stable internet connection.
It’s exactly as I said - On all versions, using the full feature set will require an internet connection.
Only the Mobile and Web version will be completely inoperable while offline.
thats just how the company decided to do things it was probably easier and faster for them to do it this way, and they found making more features faster more important.
I guess the only reason they’re doing this is because they think that the engine is lacking important features and the only thing not making this engine popular enough is features.
I can’t really say something about this because I’m not an analysis person, but I don’t think that features are the only thing that makes an engine popular.
The stability of the engine, its easiness of use, the community around it, and the consistency of the engine all count as reasons to use it.
But the most important is marketing. They should let people know that an engine called GDEVELOP exists.
