To see publicly the date when a game was first published would be interesting but practical not really useful for the end user, because games donāt have a ābeste before dateā like food. (However I see the possible phenomen that some players could tend to play more newer games instead of older ones.)
Instead of showing the date of the last update it would be way more usefull to show the version number of the title, or a simple stamp/badge āgametitle xyz is: finished / under developmentā. Personally I would like to know in which state the game is (finished or under development), in addition with: on which date a title was released or updated, in the case of gd.games.
@zGameCreator I canāt imagine why you want to see a proof if a game was really updated on gd.games. Some game updates might just include typo correction or other small things. (But it could be useful to have the possibility to link the GDevelop Forumās Game Topic to the gamepage itself as some sort of devlog, if it is the same creator to prevent false links.)
In general it would be more helpfull to add screenshots to the game page on gd.games, but this would be sth. for another topicā¦
@zGameCreator : I think Bubble mentioned here a good point.
You could add this point of context to your post - So we might get a higher chance to see your feature request realized.
Another reason to have the date created and date updated on games.
First of all if you do this, it would be good if you had it with the thumbnail that we see before clicking on it to open the game.
Summary: display date created and last updated so that we know whether to open the game to see new content.
For example, a few months ago I really liked a game and commented on it and asked for more levels (there was only one). The dev replied a days later that they had added another level so I played that too. Now, I donāt know if they added more levels and didnāt do a reply or they just didnāt add any levels.
I would have to go to the game page to find out. The game autostarts so I would see from the menu if there was more levels and if there wasnāt, I would leave. This adds a play to the game stats but itās just a few seconds and is misleading in the devās stats if theyāre analysing player retention.
